Today I went to Via Appia Antica. This street is "closed" on Sunday to traffic. There are still speeding cars, but not as many as there would be on weekdays or Saturday. Along the road there are catacombs, tombs, and churches. I biked on it a few weeks ago, yet I decided to walk today because Roman roads are bumpy. I'm excited to go again someday soon.

We bought some chestnuts. |

This is the inside of Cecilia Metella's tomb. Little is known about her other than the fact that both her father and husband were wealthy. |

This is the outside of her tomb. |

I love these flowers! They're like a mini bouquet. |

This guy was playing his accordion on the subway! I've never seen that before. |
Ohhhh... So good. I only wish the pizza would be served in slices. Instead, I have a workout before munching on a piece.
I've gotten some funky flavors lately. Today I had a rice and honey scoop with sesame nero. Very interesting. Sesame nero is kind of nutty and just weird.
That's surprising about the pizza being just one big piece! How is the pasta? What has been you favorite ice cream flavor so far??
ReplyDeleteI know! I was surprised about the pizza situation too. The pasta is very good. I like the al dente style and sometimes a pasta only needs a great tomato sauce to be delicious.
DeleteEven though it's pretty weird, the honey and rice with sesame seeds is really interesting.
I've never tried it, but there is also a Gorgonzola flavor at a gelato store near us.
Hi, this is Anna from my mom's account.
DeleteThat's so cool!
I'm not sure I could muster up the courage to try Gorgonzola gelato haha... Ooh! Also, please let me know how the coffee/coffee ice cream is if you get the chance.
Anna showed me how to open a google account so here I am. Looks like Cecelia Metella was planning some big goings on in the afterlife--a little more room than the ordinary corpse usually requires. And i love that hat Martha!
